Great ideas are easy to understand but hard to embrace.

When you lie, especially in the name of truth and friendship, its an inevitable slippery slope all the way down to the loss of integrity.

Claude Shannon's Prophecy?

I visualize a time when we will be to robots what dogs are to humans. And I am rooting for the machines.

~Claude Shannon

Given how AI has taken off in the recent past. The above quote by the father of information technology seems rather prophetic on his birthday.

His seminal work The mathematical theory of communication

So many people say so many things without actually meaning any of it, that its funny as fuck and frustrating at the same time!

Is Artificial Intelligence going to make us Really Dumb?

It is the logic of our times,

No subject for immortal verse

That we who lived by honest dreams

Defend the bad against the worse.

~ Cecil Day Lewis ~

The illusion of choice is the greatest of illusions!

What is true, depends on you (almost entirely)

Truth is a many storied building.

The Buddha in his enlightenment discovered that there is no such thing as an absolute truth!

The four noble truths and the eightfold path ensue.

The poet’s truth is just as real to him as is the scientist’s to himself!

Merely because the latter appeals to the rational mind it cannot and should not be given a higher weightage than that which only a mystic can perceive from beyond the five senses.

More importantly, truth when its not your still remains untruth, believing is not the same as knowing be it god or small intestine!

So, what is true, depends on you. Your ability to perceive and to know much more, possibly entirely even, than on what the object of truth is.

Rumi Quotes

Jalāl ad-Dīn Muhammad Rūmī was a Persian sufi saint, poet and mystic.

His poetry has always resonated with me for a long time.

These are some of my favourite quotes of him.

Wherever you are, and whatever you do, be in love.

The wound is the place where the light enters you.

What you seek is seeking you.

Yesterday I was clever, so I wanted to change the world. Today I am wise, so I am changing myself.

Don’t be satisfied with stories, how things have gone with others. Unfold your own myth.

The quieter you become, the more you are able to hear.

The only lasting beauty is the beauty of the heart.

Wherever you stand, be the soul of that place.

Let the beauty of what you love be what you do.

The art of knowing is knowing what to ignore.

The wound is where the light enters you.

The morning breeze has secrets to tell you. Do not go back to sleep.

I am not this hair, I am not this skin, I am the soul that lives within.

You are not a drop in the ocean. You are the entire ocean, in a drop.

Lovers don’t finally meet somewhere. They’re in each other all along.

We come spinning out of nothingness, scattering stars like dust.

Raise your words, not your voice. It is rain that grows flowers, not thunder.

You were born with wings, why prefer to crawl through life?

Everything in the universe is within you. Ask all from yourself.

Travel brings power and love back into your life.

Love is not a mere sentiment. It is the ultimate truth that lies at the heart of creation.

Let yourself be silently drawn by the strange pull of what you really love. It will not lead you astray.

Be grateful for whoever comes, because each has been sent as a guide from beyond.

The heart is a thousand-stringed instrument that can only be tuned with love.

The universe is not outside of you. Look inside yourself; everything that you want, you already are.

Sell your cleverness and buy bewilderment.

Gamble everything for love, if you are a true human being. If not, leave this gathering.

Don’t grieve. Anything you lose comes round in another form.

The beauty you see in me is a reflection of you.

The rose’s rarest essence lives in the thorn.

When you do things from your soul, you feel a river moving in you, a joy.

Let the waters settle and you will see the moon and the stars mirrored in your own being.

The only way to do great work is to love what you do.

When I am with you, we stay up all night. When you’re not here, I can’t go to sleep.

You were born with potential. You were born with goodness and trust. You were born with ideals and dreams. You were born with greatness. You were born with wings. You are not meant for crawling, so don’t. You have wings. Learn to use them and fly.

Don’t be the rider who gallops all night and never sees the horse that is beneath him.

A thousand half-loves must be forsaken to take one whole heart home.

The garden of the world has no limits, except in your mind.

The minute I heard my first love story, I started looking for you, not knowing how blind that was. Lovers don’t finally meet somewhere. They’re in each other all along.

If you are irritated by every rub, how will your mirror be polished?

There is a candle in your heart, ready to be kindled. There is a void in your soul, ready to be filled. You feel it, don’t you?

The wound is where the light enters you.

Why do you stay in prison when the door is so wide open?

I am yours. Don’t give myself back to me.

We are born of love; Love is our mother.

There is no salvation for the soul but to fall in love. Only lovers can escape out of these two worlds.

In your light I learn how to love. In your beauty, how to make poems. You dance inside my chest where no-one sees you, but sometimes I do, and that sight becomes this art.

I closed my mouth and spoke to you in a hundred silent ways.

When the world pushes you to your knees, you’re in the perfect position to pray.

The soul has been given its own ears to hear things the mind does not understand.

Arthur Ashe - Why Me?

Arthur Ashe was the first African-American male player to have won three grandslam titles and inspired a generation of athletes.

He had a heart attack which forced him retire from professional tennis. He contacted HIV AIDS diring blood transfusion on the second bout of heart attack.

When he shared this news with the world he recieved letters from fans all over.

One of which read: “Why does GOD have to select you for such a bad disease”?

To which Arthur’s response was both touching and wise.

“The world over — 50 million children start playing tennis,

5 million learn to play tennis,

500,000 learn professional tennis,

50,000 come to the circuit,

5000 reach the grand slam,

50 reach Wimbledon,

4 to the semifinal,

2 to the finals,

When I was holding a cup I never asked GOD ‘Why me?’.

And today in pain I should not be asking GOD ‘Why me?’ “

• Happiness keeps you Sweet,

• Trials keep you Strong,

• Sorrow keeps you, Human,

• Failure keeps you humble and

• Success keeps you glowing, but only Faith & Attitude Keeps you going..”

Sometimes you are not satisfied with your life, while many others in this world are dreaming of living your life.

A child on a farm sees a plane fly overhead dreams of flying, while a pilot on the plane sees the farmhouse and dreams of returning home.

That’s Life! Enjoy yours…Because;

• If wealth is the secret to happiness, then rich should be dancing on streets, but only POOR kids do that.

• If power ensures security, then VIPs should walk unguarded. But those who live simply sleep soundly

• If beauty and fame bring ideal relationships, celebrities should have the best marriages

Therefore, live simply, Be happy, Walk humbly & Love genuinely!”

He spent his final years raising awareness of HIV AIDS and helping the victims through his foundation.

When you have friends who can make profoundly wise words seem like perfect BS, you don’t need a lot more to be happy in Life 😄

Which is(are) your favourite movie(s) and why do you recommend anyone to watch it?

Almost every story is...

a story worth telling. Of course some more than others. After all, we are nothing more than the stories we tell ourselves.

If that’s the case, then why not tell a good one? Better still is the best story we can tell us about ourselves, this probably helps us live our best lives more than anything else.

This is also why movies and books, especially the biographical ones, have such a transformative effect on the lives of individuals however it can be short-lived if not coupled with intrinsic motivation.

Remember, you are only a story away from living an inspired life.

It’s remarkable how much of our life happens on a small screen with a little bit of hand eye coordination.

Also, what would one day replace a cellphone?

Those that know, do. Those that understand, teach.

This is the real secret of life – to be completely engaged with what you are doing in the here and now. And instead of calling it work, realize it is play.

~Alan Watts

For two years a person learns to speak, and then for the rest of his life he learns to be silent.

When it ceases to be new

It ceases to amaze you.

When learning something new,

Be it an idea, a skill, a tool (hardware/software), playing a game or a 🎶 instrument or picking up a new hobby.

We are nervous and excited at the same time. Constantly thinking about it in the🚿 or before going to 😴 and all the time in between.

Early on, every little progress seemed like a milestone worth celebrating and every blip seemed like an insurmountable obstacle.

There is a sense of alertness to the mind and body while being engaged in the activity.

A feeling of magic.

Along the way, the newness is somehow lost. The spark is now missing. Eventually it becomes mundane and gets relegated to a chore.

Alas! This is also when you stop having fun and start burning out.

The fortunate few who don’t fall into this trap of inevitable boredom are those who wholeheartedly embrace the idea of a beginner’s mind while also constantly striving to improve through deliberate practice. When it ceases to be new,
